Mike Gibson is a community activist and volunteer in the City of Ventura. He is currently employed as Business Manager for the Santa Barbara County Parks Department where he has worked for the past 15 years. Prior to this position, Mike worked for the City of Oxnard as a Management Analyst with the Community Development Department. |

He has also worked for the City of Simi Valley in the Public Works Department and Transit Division and for the City of Garden Grove in the City Manager’s Office. Mike’s experience in local government has been primarily in the areas of fiscal and budget management. He also has significant experience in planning, economic development, redevelopment, and code enforcement. His professional affiliations include serving as Chair of the Channel Islands Coast Region of the Municipal Management Association of Southern California (MMASC) and as Secretary/Treasurer of the Santa Barbara County Management Association (SBCMA). Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Cal State Fullerton and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Cal State Northridge. Mike was awarded a Certificate of Distinction from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA)/Center for Performance Measurement for his efforts in developing and promoting performance measurement/management systems and techniques for local government agencies. Mike is active in community-based service groups and nonprofit organizations including the Ventura Education and Commerce Foundation, Ventura Family YMCA, Boy Scouts of America, United Way of Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara County Park Foundation, Ventura Chamber of Commerce committees, and Our Lady of Assumption Church where he serves as a lector and usher. Mike has been married to Susan for 24 years and has three children – Chris (22), Eloise (21), and Michael, Jr. (19).
