Mike’s Plan to Move the City of Ventura
Forward into the Future

  • Conduct a top-to-bottom analysis of the City budget to identify areas for further re-prioritizing of programs and services and changes to the organizational structure that can result in additional ongoing savings.

  • Examine fees for services to determine appropriate reductions to certain fees in order to stimulate economic growth and prime the pump, so the City is ready to take advantage of opportunities when the economic recovery begins.

  • Create a plan to diversify the local economy through more business outreach efforts in order to attract more high-wage, high-tech jobs, and to enhance tourism and visitation, and activities like film shoots and commercial ventures that result in higher hotel occupancy and patronage of local businesses and restaurants.

  • Assemble an economic strike force, consisting of local business experts, Chamber of Commerce representatives, and key City staff to stand poised to act when economic opportunities arise, seize the moment, and provide the guidance and leadership necessary for these opportunities to succeed.

  • Create an ombudsman position (partially funded by the City and partially funded by the development community) to help guide new businesses through the development review process to quick and successful conclusions, bringing economic vitality and new tax revenue to the City.

  • Place a renewed emphasis on customer service so that the public receives prompt attention and responsiveness to their problems and concerns and that each person is treated in a fair and equitable manner, rather than the standard bureaucratic response

Mike would be most honored to receive your vote in November!
